World’s Longest Span Suspension Bridge | 1915 Canakkale Bridge

We are proud to be a part of this project that is truly an engineering marvel. The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge becomes the world’s longest mid-span suspension bridge with a 2,023 meter (6,637 feet) span between its towers. The total length of the bridge reaches 4,608 meters (15,118 feet).

QuakeLogic was a part of a huge international consortium of companies involved with building and monitoring this amazing structure that connects Asia and Europe across the Strait of Dardanelles.

QuakeLogic has installed four LUNITEK downhole accelerometers (Tellus-BH-FB160) and two force-balance- accelerometers (LTFB-160) at the surface seismic stations. These sensors were connected to two 24-bit ATLAS digitizers on each side of the bridge for real-time earthquake monitoring. The data from these sensors are processed in true real-time by the QuakeLogic’s SMARTBRIDGE structural-health-monitoring software.

Our piece of this massive project is of course connected to safety and Structural Health Monitoring. The bridge is located in a very seismically active area of the world.

Earthquake monitoring is one of the most critical components of the SHM system for the 1915 Canakkale Bridge. It is why we have chosen QuakeLogic. QuakeLogic has not only successfully installed borehole and surface sensors but also their monitoring software flawlessly processes real-time data. – Huseyin Bozgeyik | Project Manager — Yapi Merkezi
